'Beard'- #Project60 at Somerset House

I recently visited Somerset House, London to check out the Mr Elbank exhibition, simply entitled ‘Beard’. This exhibit was born from a photograph of Jimmy Niggles to promote his charity, Beard Season. Niggles lost a close friend to skin cancer and decided to grow a beard to help generate awareness about this treatable disease.

To raise awareness of Beard Season worldwide, Mr Elbank decided to set up #Project60- sixty portraits of inspiring, glorious face foliage. Over 1,200 people enquired about being part of this project, showing how respected and important the cause is.

The final selection is understandable, with some of the most impressive beards on show. Famous names such as model Ricki Hall and actor John Hurt adorn the walls here. The mix of impressive models and incredible shooting by Elbank makes this collection a fascinating view for a wide spectrum of people. I was pleased to see many different types of people there when I went, all appreciating different elements of the exhibition.

What I feel both adds to the experience and credits the project is the location. Somerset House is an iconic and prestigious London landmark so to be held at this gallery proves this exhibition is held in high regard.

With beard grooming seminars from reputable brands like Captain Fawcett there is many aspects to this entire experience and if you haven’t got yourself down there to have a look for yourself I strongly recommend you do so. Be quick, the event ends March 29th.
